Last night, Kansas City Playboys headlined their single release show for their new song Upward Draft at The George Tavern. We’re sure it was a party, The George has been getting healthy coverage here because of its great space and greater curation, but we weren’t there. In a mixup and lapse of communication, we published a show review that failed to mention them at all. The new song, the set, the vibes, the ear-ringing. It’s now a thing of legend, a whisper, like the myth of Phil Collins’ In The Air Tonight. If you were there, you know, and if you weren’t, you don’t.
We’re very sorry for this omission. It goes against our publishing standards to leave a band off a review, but this one slipped through the cracks.
There used to be coverage everywhere, multiple outlets would cover the same gig. Outlets that don’t even exist anymore. The reason Rrrat City started in the first place was all the amazing art we were seeing and wondering “why is no one reporting on this?”. We don’t make it to every show, and sometimes even miss a set at a show.
Are we going to take down the original review of all the other bands? No, we are not. If someone wishes that were the case, it’s not going to happen. Rock with it. Roll with it. The parts we were able to capture were fantastic and the record of it will remain. We’ll keep hitting the beat and hitting the street to bring coverage of the real live moments of real live music, doing the best we can.
Rock on, Rrrat Pack, see you around.
